Community-Based Primary Palliative Care Community of Practice – Series 3

Sessions will be running from October 2023 to June 2024.

This community of practice (COP) focuses on supporting primary care clinicians to integrate primary palliative care in their practices. It is geared towards inter-professional primary health care providers across Canada. 

The recordings, slides and resources mentioned for Series One (wrapped up in July 2022) and Series Two (wrapped up in March 2023) are now available.

Each session is accredited. This one-credit-per-hour Group Learning program has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for up to 9.0 Mainpro+® credits.

  • Communication – Part 1: session was held on October 25, 2023.
  • Communication – Part 2: session was held on November 29, 2023.
  • Managing the last hours of life: session was held on December 20, 2023.
  • Palliative care for the structurally vulnerable: session was held on January 24, 2024
  • Procedural management of complex pain: nerve blocks, vertebral augmentation, radiotherapy: session was held on February 21, 2024
  • Terminal delirium and palliative sedation: March 27, 2024, from 12:30–1:30 p.m. ET
  • Creative art therapy in palliative care: April 24, 2024, from 12:30–1:30 p.m. ET
  • What’s in store for palliative care in Canada: policy, advocacy, and implementation: May 29, 2024, from 12:30–1:30 p.m. ET
  • Grief and bereavement: beyond the basics: June 26, 2024, from 12:30–1:30 p.m. ET
